FocusDock privacy policy

Last updated: September 24, 2026.

FocusDock has a web app and a separate Chrome extension. Neither requires an account or cloud sync. The web app stores its focus state in the browser's IndexedDB. The extension stores timer and focus state in IndexedDB and extension metadata and local event counters in chrome.storage.local. The two products do not share their records.

Information stored on this device

Depending on the features you use, FocusDock stores session objectives, plans, focus notes, outcomes, timer timestamps, recaps and handoff text, preferences, and counts of selected extension events. Event counts are totals without timestamps, session text, page details, or a user identifier. The timer measures elapsed session time, including while the side panel is closed; it does not measure active use of tabs or websites.

Optional page awareness

The extension requests Chrome's optional tabs permission only after you choose page awareness or explicitly park the current page. While awareness is enabled during a running focus session, the extension reads the active tab's title and HTTP(S) URL to compare page metadata with your focus objective. It does not read page contents, inject scripts, use browsing history, or block websites. Incognito tabs and non-web addresses are ignored. Before a page address is saved, its query string and fragment are removed. Titles and cleaned addresses included in a recap can remain in extension storage until you delete local data.

AI assistance

When you explicitly request outcome refinement, session planning, distraction classification, or an AI-assisted recap, FocusDock may use Chrome's built-in on-device LanguageModel if that API and a model are available. Chrome may download its model. FocusDock's extension does not configure a cloud AI provider or send these prompts to FocusDock servers. If the browser model is unavailable or fails, deterministic local logic is used. AI output is optional and editable.

Network, export, and deletion

The extension code does not send session content, page details, event counts, or handoff text to FocusDock servers. Buttons to open ChatGPT or Claude only open those websites; FocusDock does not submit your handoff to them. Any content you choose to copy or send yourself is governed by the service you choose.

FocusDock uses data only to provide the focus, optional page-awareness, and handoff features described here. FocusDock does not sell user data, use it for advertising, or transfer it to a FocusDock server. The extension has no account or remote dashboard through which FocusDock staff could review locally stored session data. This is the product's Limited Use disclosure for Chrome Web Store users.

Settings can export the local FocusDock state, extension records, and event totals to a JSON file through Chrome's download mechanism. Deleting local data clears FocusDock's persistent browser records and event totals. It does not delete JSON files you exported, Chrome-managed on-device AI model files, or data you separately shared with another service.
